Particular attention should be paid to available information on bacterial resistance to ciprofloxacin before initiating treatment. Official recommendations on the appropriate use of antibiotics should also be taken into account.

In adults:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections caused by gram-negative bacteria.
  • Exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
  • Bronchitis and lung infections in cases of cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis.

  • Upper genital tract infections in women, including infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
    • When infection with these bacteria is suspected or confirmed, it is important to know the prevalence of their resistance locally and to check their sensitivity to the antibiotic through microbiological tests.
  • Gastrointestinal infections (such as traveler's diarrhea).
  • Intra-abdominal infections.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria.
  • Malignant otitis externa.
  • Bone and joint infections.
  • Treatment of infections in immunocompromised patients (neutropenia).
  • Prevention of infection in immunocompromised patients.
  • Prevention of invasive Neisseria meningitidis infection.
  • Anthrax prevention (post-exposure) and treatment.

In the age group of children and adolescents:

  • Bronchitis and lung infections in cystic fibrosis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
  • Complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis.

This treatment should only be prescribed by physicians experienced in treating cystic fibrosis and/or severe infections in children and adolescents.
